Copenhagen Infrastructure Advanced Bioenergy Fund I (CI ABF I) reached first close with EUR 375 million in commitments in April 2022. The fund reached final close in October 2023 with commitments of EUR 750 million.

CI ABF I focuses on equity investments in advanced bioenergy infrastructure in Europe and North America and enables institutional investors to contribute to the energy transition and participate in the decarbonization of hard to abate sectors through the production of advanced biofuels and biogas. Investments will be based on sustainable feedstock such as waste wood, agricultural biowaste, and household and industrial biowaste. The offtake products will include green gas and green fuels, such as renewable natural gas (RNG), liquified natural gas (bio-LNG), and 2nd generation bioethanol.

This fund is closed to new investors.

Projects

The CI ABF I Base Case Portfolio includes several attractive green field projects with diverse exposure to different technologies, waste types, products, offtake markets and regulatory regimes. The projects are located in Denmark, Spain (Catalonia), Belgium (Wallonia) and Holland (BEN).
